We have been running for quite a while now, in fact, since
January 2012. Last week, one more
member joined us in our quest to clock long distance runs on a weekly
basis. Sathiyamoorthi Chinnasamy and
Roger Yap are the founding members of the running club, “Anchorvale Runners”. Bernard Ng is our first mate, cheers!
Every Friday morning, we hit the road at between 6.45am to
7.15am, depending on the distance we decide to cover. Usually, it is just a short 6km run along the
park connector from Sengkang to Punggol and back. Occasionally, we may do 2 runs within the
same week when we feel especially energetic.
So far, the longest distance Sathiya and I had attempted was 15km when
we ran to the far end of the former Punggol jetty. Bernard was suggesting a more ambitious
feat that tracks all the way to Bedok and back to Sengkang, roughly about
25km. Do join us if you are game!
Last Sunday, on 16 December, we tried to add in table-topic
training during our run. At every 5km mark,
a topic will be thrown at a randomly picked runner and he has to make an
impromptu speech while running. Sathiya
managed to incorporate his humorous talent and quick wits while physically crossing
the park connector at the speed of 12km per hour. What do you think? Pretty impressive huh !
Give us a call or send a message if you are interested to
join us in a morning workout, toastmasters’ style. Sathiya @ 9852-8340 , Roger @ 9618-5612
Yours truly,
Roger Yap- VPE
