Anchorvale Toastmasters - 101st Chapter Meeting on 25th March 2017

It was a scorching hot afternoon, the intense rays of the sun was shimmering like Titan’s fiery wheel in the sky. Nothing and no-one moved in this penetrating heat unless they were desperate.
Desperate to be mesmerized, enthralled and be captivated by the brilliant speeches of Anchorvale CC TM club members.

Sergeant-at-Arms Valliappan, started the introduction and requested members and guest to share their insight how to save water. Vicky the clever Toastmaster of the Day without hesitation stood up and proudly announced that he will shower joyously once a week. Everyone began clapping and shouting with all their might, and Vicky raised his chin and began smiling and bowing to all sides. Thanks to red bull energy drink which he took which caused his heart rate to rise that he was able to unveil the ultimate secret of saving water, Bravados!
Our sweet & strong-willed Vice-President Salma who speak on behalf of Norman, gave the opening address. President Norman was allegedly in a secluded sanctuary searching for a prophetic vision to bring forth Anchorvale CC TM club to the next summit of excellence.
Salma caringly inspired the members and newcomers to step up to the plate and take more roles in the club. If we don't challenge ourselves we will never realized what we can become.

The audience was treated with marvelous speeches of varying topics. Three Icebreakers speeches clear the path like Captain Nemo's Nautilus clearing the twenty thousand leagues of seas. Bao Long, Rao Prasanna, and Kelvin did wondrously well who are obviously possessing speaking talents. Dino project 5 reminisced about his nostalgic experience with his old Nokia phone which prove that changes are inevitable.  Ricky delivered his Project 8 titled "It's in the genes". He encourage everyone not to be afraid of genetically modified food because this can be a potential solution to world hunger. Those who agreed to his indoctrination were later yielded with a ripe gmo banana. Sathiya's Advance Project1 was a very heartfelt inspiring speech on Capacity Management which pulled everyone's heartstrings. Haidong's energy flowing around him, responded eagerly to Sathiya's inquiries that earned him a tiny chocolate bar. The audience remained composed but became a little watery-eyed in admiration to Sathiya's kindness and heart-rending speech. All the speeches were very interesting, which is why two got the best speaker award, and that honor went to Ricky Setiawan and Bao Long Lim! Congratulations to these two handsome gentlemen!

After the refreshment break, evaluators Owen, Weite, Senthil, Benjamin, Salma, and Kin Foong gave many insightful comments and useful tips on how to improve in public speaking and livening up a speech. Salma's entrancing evaluation sounded like a prepared speech eventually clinched gold and got the best project evaluator.
We moved on to table topics, steered by Hemant. To our surprise and excitement, instead of the usual “pick a topic and deliver a short speech” style, we had a “debate type session”. Two names were called, one will pick a topic and the other one will speak on the opposing views. This event has been known for its exciting surprises. From newbie entrants to unexpected winners, anything can happen in this battle royal, making it the most anticipated event.
Benjamin, Owen, Deepthi, Helena, Kelvin, Weite, Sara, Nicholas, Senthil, Haidong, Kin Foong, Suresh, Salma and Sathia entered the arena not caring whether they live or die. It is a battle between good against evil, some were praying, some were howling, others grunting and snarling. Owen the saint and Salma the seeker of serenity fought the overloards Benjamin and Sathia.
Benjamine's voice swiftly thunder boomed on Owen and clashed so hard it stun-clapped him into silence. Sathia yowled next his topic and swung his hands from bottom to top in a wide sweep. Salma was outmatched by the constant battering of rants and rhetorics which eventually unhinged our heroine. Our heroes took the pounding, it was a mayhem. Dynamic duo Benjamine and Sathia won the table topic battle, they were too strong, too fast and too furious for their opponents.
